Manchester United Consider Move for Real Madrid Contract Rebel

Manchester United are considering a move to sign Real Madrid defender Pepe as the Portuguese international’s contract renewal problems continue. The 27 year old former Porto centre back has demanded a tripling of his £30k a week salary and the La Liga giants steadfastly refuse to give in to his demands.
Pepe wants to join Real Madrid’s high earners after performing admirably at the heart of the Bernabeu defence but club president Florentino Perez is not willing to pay him what he wants and now a raft of clubs are chasing the burly defender who has 18 months left to run on his current contract.
Sir Alex Ferguson is now willing to enter the race to sign Pepe and may well make an offer in January in order to beat off competition from the likes of Man City and Chelsea. Given that Rio Ferdinand is 32 years old and has suffered with injuries of late, a move to bring in such an experienced defender would make a great deal of sense, especially as youngster Chris Smalling is still a little too raw to be given an extended run in the first team.
Such a move would also prove to Wayne Rooney and others that the Old Trafford club does have the means to bring in the best talent in the world and the Glazers are willing to hand Sir Alex Ferguson significant funds in order to strengthen his ageing squad.
