Chelsea Right Back Jose Bosingwa Signs New Contract to End Exit Speculation

Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea have effectively ended all transfer speculation about Bosingwa’s imminent departure from Stamford Bridge by committing the defender to a new contract which sees him stay at the club until 2012.
The Portuguese right back, who moved to the Blues from Porto in 2008 for £16 million, has taken up the offer of extending his current deal by a year when it expires in this upcoming summer.
The 28 year old missed most of the 2009/2010 season with a knee injury, but returned to action this year and has played 15 games since that injury-ridden spell and played a full 90 minutes in the 2-0 victory over Blackburn last weekend.
Meanwhile, one of the goalscorers in that game, Branislav Ivanovic, has still not commited to signing a new deal with the West London side. The Serbian international has a four year deal on offer from Chelsea and said: ‘We are talking about my new contract but we will see in the next couple of weeks. I want to stay and I hope it will be sorted out soon.’
