La Liga - Messi and Villa net in Barca win

Lionel Messi and David Villa were on target as Barcelona kept the pressure on La Liga leaders Real Madrid with a 3-1 win at Getafe.

The visiting side went ahead on 21 minutes when Messi tucked home his eighth goal of the season from Villa's pass before the little Argentina playmaker turned provider to play in Villa for the second goal on 32 minutes.
Barca went out of sight on 62 minutes when home defender Daniel Diaz gave the ball straight to Pedro who evaded home goalkeeper Jordi Codina to clip the ball into the net.
Getafe got some reward for their exertions in the second half when Manu drilled home a penalty on 70 minutes after Gerard Pique was sent off for a second yellow card as he handled in the box from Miku's pass.
The home side tried to make their one-man advantage count as play swung from end to end, but their hopes were buried when Derek Boateng followed Pique off the park on 79 minutes for a second booking after a crude late challenge on Javier Mascherano.
Carles Puyol had to knock Javier Arizmendi's header off the line in the final 20 minutes, but Messi wasted several clear-cut chances late on as Barca ran out worthy winners.
