The battle between FC Barcelona and their rivals Real Madrid continues on all fronts. Although Barca routed Real 5-0, many still argue that Real is dominant. After the January transfer window, we are a little bit past half the season. Let's take a look at FC Barcelona and Real Madrid's battle in the goal and assist charts.
Goals:
C.Ronaldo: 22
L.Messi: 21
D.Villa:14
Pedro:12
Llorente:12
In this category, although Madrid's Ronaldo is number one with a terrific 22 goals, Messi is only one goal behind despite having played three games/271 minutes less. But the Real (pardon the pun) shock is what follows that, Pedro and Villa follow right behind the top two, meaning all three of Barcelona's starting forwards are in the top 4 goalscorers in Spain!
Winner: FC Barcelona
Winner: Undecided The charts don't lie, Ronaldo is the leader. But it would be unfair to crown him the winner, as Messi is at a disadvantage. But it would also be unfair to crown Messi as we cannot assume there is a 100 percent chance that Messi would have scored goal(s) had he played the three games.
Assists:
L.Messi:15
B.Valero:9
Pedro:9
D.Alves:9
Xavi:8
Barcelona undoubtedly dominate the assist chart as well. What is really astonishing is Lionel Messi tops the assist chart and is in a very close second in the goal chart (despite Ronaldo's advantage in time played), which proves his ability in terms of scoring and creating. Ronaldo has got the scoring part down, he just has to work on the assist portion.
As is in the other chart, Barcelona have multiple players in the chart. This time they have four, trumping Real who have none.
